Hayley Parker is an amazing shoe artist, her shoes have been worn by Madonna, Julian Casablanca of The Strokes and Director Guillermo Del Toro. Now she decided to grace us here at Undiscover Magazine.
1. Tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Hayley P. Barker and I grew up in a San Diego, CA as well as Alpine, UT.
After high school I moved to new york city to go to college.
I am one of six kids, I occasionally Dj parties, I love street art, I have a cat named Ralph,
and just got married 4 months ago!
2. How did you get into designing sneakers?
I was in London visiting my sister and there very first Vans store had just opened.
And as a promotional event they had a ton of artists do whatever they wanted to
pairs of plain white vans. I thought the idea was genius and therefore stole it, got some
markers and made a pair of my own.
3. Your sneaker line name is very interesting. Tell us where it originated from?
It is named after the science fiction writer Howard Phillips Lovecraft.
We share the same initials and so with the Lovecraft, it was a nick name
that stuck. His stories are pretty radical, and have inspired several pairs of shoes.
4. Where did you go to school? What did you study?
I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology and I studied Fashion Design.
5. What inspires your designs?
A lot of things, color and prints along with graffiti and t-shirt graphics,
Album covers, band posters, people's outfits on the street...it all plays a role.
6. If you could do anything else? What would it be?My real dream (which is in the works) is to create my own clothing line...
so be watching out for that.
7. What advise do you have for young people who want to be shoe designers?
I would tell people to get some markers, get some plain sneakers and get drawing.
Keep drawing, and show and tell everyone. I've learned that is how it all happens.
8. Describe your personal style?
Colorful, quirky, and chameleon like...I like a lot of different styles.
9. Where would you be seen wearing your line?
The few pairs I have for myself have traveled far and wide with me.
But most often you would see me wearing them to the grocery store.

3 things
1.) the shoe pics I sent over to darling Tracey are the first leak to the new line coming out!!!
2.) The website is being relaunched along with the new line of kicks in just a couple months!!!!
3.) I just saw Elijah "Fordo" Woods in my neighborhood today...I didn't talk to him but
it was pretty exciting non the less!
